The Dying Rose Classical Animation
This piece was inspired by the famous rose from the classic Disney film, Beauty and the Beast (1991). I drew 100 versions of the rose, on 8.5" x 11" computer paper; with each drawing, I shifted various elements to create the illusion that the flower is dying. I used markers and ink that were also slowly dying, which emphasized the fading colour of the dying rose.
I created this video when I was fifteen years old for a school project; it took the better part of the semester and over 100 hours. Creating this piece was pivotal in my journey to becoming an animator: it put into perspective how complicated and time-consuming animation is, how much I respect animators and how much I want to be one myself.
